MEETING INFORMATION:
Voting

As a new member, when am I eligible to vote?

Members are eligible to vote at the meeting three months following their first contribution. At a member's first meeting, she can make a donation and nominate a charity for the following meeting, but her first voting opportunity occurs at the second meeting. We request members commit for at least a year, and this ensures that non-members do not show up and join for only one meeting to vote for their friend's charity, when they know their friend is presenting.

            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How does the vote work?

All members who meet the above requirements and who are current on their contributions, can vote.  Teams only get one vote in total, not one per team member (note that we are not accepting new teams at this time). Members who are present vote by ballot and members who are absent may vote by text message in real time. Ballots and text messages are tallied at the meeting. During virtual Zoom meetings, all members present vote in real time. The charity with the most votes is awarded the full amount minus $1000, and that $1000 is split between the other two charities.  All members and teams donate to the winning charity.  As a committed member, we ask that you support the charity that wins, even if you personally voted for another charity.

          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What if the vote results in a tie?

If two charities tie with the most votes, then there is a run-off vote between them.  If the run-off results in another tie, then the names of both charities are put in a hat and the winner is randomly selected.  In the case of a three-way tie, the names of all three charities are put in a hat and the winner is randomly selected.
